Nhan Dan Online – The 22th National Traditional Martial Arts (Vovinam) Championships opened in Da Nang city on September 18.
The championships draw the participation of over 400 martial artists from 33 Vovinam teams across the country. The participants are competing in both direct combat and performance events in 12 weight categories for men and nine weight categories for women.
The five-day event provides a chance for coaches to select the best athletes for the national team, which is going to compete in the 27th Southeast Asia (SEA) Games scheduled to be held in Malaysia later this year.
The annual event is held jointly by the General Department of Sports and Physical Training and the Vietnam Vovinam Federation.
