Nearly 300 martial artists from 24 universities and colleges will compete for medals in combat and performance categories.
The three-day event aims to develop vovinam among students in the north.
It also hopes to find young talents.
In the combat division, martial artists will compete in 12 weight categories for men and seven for women.
Vovinam is a Vietnamse martial art, performed with and without weapons. — VNS
