A sponsorship contract worth US$150,000 has been signed in Hanoi on March 29 between the Saigoninvest Group (SGI), the Vovinam International Federation (VIF) and the Vovinam Vietnam Federation (VVF).
The SGI has been the major donor for the Vietnam martial art Vovinam, helping to promote practice across the globe. With a sponsored amount of US$100,000 last year, the VIF and VFF sent delegations of martial artists, trainers and teams to Iran, India, Thailand, Cambodia and Indonesia for training news team. This was the main reason for the great success of the Vietnamese team in the 3 rd Asian Indoor Games.
This year, Vovinam will host some major international and national competitions including the France-Vietnam Championships, the Asian Vovinam Championships in Iran, the Vovinam tournament in the National Sports and Gymnastic Festival in southern Can Tho province and the National Vovinam Cup for strong clubs.
The Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Chairman of the VIF Nguyen Danh Thai granted an insignia and a certificate of merit to Dang Thanh Tam, Chairman of the SGI and Deputy Chairman of the VIF for his great contributions to the first International Vovinam Championships in Vietnam in July last year.
