Vovinam officials oversee European champs

The Vietnam Vovinam Federation (VVF) has sent its Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Chieu and General Secretary Vo Danh Hai to Milan, Italy, to supervise the European Vovinam Championships from March 2-4.

258 leading martial artists from 11 European countries will compete at the tournament. Those from France and Italy are considered the best potential candidates for performance events, while those from Russia, Belarus and France, for combat events.

Chieu and Hai will hold training courses and mid- and high-level tests for European trainers and martial artists in Italy.

In addition, Chieu, who is also a martial arts instructor and head of Vovinam’s Viet Vo Dao school, will chair a conference on Vovinam for instructors from different branches of martial arts in Italy on March 10-11.

Vovinam has developed rapidly around the world. It has been introduced in 11 African countries and the African Vovinam Federation was established in Algeria in early January. The first African Vovinam Championships will be held in that country this November.
