Manipur team yet again stamped their authority in Vovinam discipline as they were crowned overall team champions for the 10th time at the 10th National Vovinam Championship with a rich haul of 38 gold and 8 silver medals. The championship was held at Anand, Gujarat from January 27 to 30 under the aegis of Vovinam Association of India.

The 10th edition of the championship saw Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh share team runners-up title as Maharashtra finish second runners up.

Aboi Chiru (-40 kg), M Chingkheinganba (-45 kg), W Sanathoi (+52 kg), B Nishita (-28 kg), L Merina (32 kg), Bidyarani Wahengbam (-36 kg), Malka Mahatab Bhuiya (-46 kg) won gold medals in the sub-junior boys and girls categories as L Anal Hak finished with a silver medal.

In the senior categories, L Ajit (-55 kg), Thingbasor Kasar (-60 kg), S Brison (-50 kg), M Pradeep (+ 90 kg), L Pushpa (-48 kg), H Omita (-52 kg), H Henna (-60 kg), S Neha (-56 kg) and Sartaj Shaheen Bhuiya managed a silver medal in the -44 kg category.

L Korounganba (-55 kg), T Suranjoy (-60 kg), Y Ranjan (-66 kg), M Leyenda (-48 kg), Ng Ranjita (-52 kg), S Lanchenbi (-56 kg) and Chinmuankim Lhouvum (+62 kg) bagged gold medals in the junior boys and girls events as H Sanjit (-73 kg) and Ch Rozia (-44 kg) finish with silver medals.

Forms and Events

L Anal Hak clinched a gold medal in the Thap Tha Quyen event of the sub-junior category as Malka, Ksh Alex, W Sanathoi vs M Chingkheinganba bagged gold medal in the 1 female against 3 boys without weapon event.

In the Don Chan Tan Cong event for sub-junior category, L Anal Hak, W Sanathoi, S Surjakanta vs M Chingkheinganba bagged a gold medal.

Y Ranjan bagged a gold medal in the Ngu Mon Quyen event for junior boys while Ch Rozia won gold medal in the Long Ho Quyen for girls.

Ch Rozia and Lanchenbi pair also won a gold medal in the Song Luyen Kiem event after L Korounganba added a silver medal to State's tally finishing second in the Thap Tha Quyen event.

In self defence event of 1 female against 3 boys, S Lanchenbi, S Suresh, T Suranjoy vs Rakesh Pol bagged a gold medal while in 1 male against 3 boys, T Rustam, T Suranjoy, Rakesh Pol vs S Suresh earned a silver medal.

Meanwhile in the senior category, W Bibek won a gold medal in the Thap Tha Quyen event; H Omita won gold in Long Ho Quyen; L Ajit vs K Raju won gold in Song Luyen Ma Tau; and H Omita vs H Henna won gold medal in Song Luyen Keim.

In self defence, L Pushpa vs Ch Mahadeva won gold as S Neha, W Bibek, W Bimal vs K Surjakanta bagged gold medal in the 1 female against 3 male without weapons event; W Bibek, W Bimal, Thingyarso Kasar vs Th Somorjit won gold medal in 1 male against 3 male with weapons; and Ch Mahadeva, K Raju, L Ajit and Th Arun clinched gold medal in Dong Chan Tan Cong event.
